Welcome to the family Miss Frizzle

JANINE: Headed back to the rescue with this sweet girl. She was found running as a stray in Philadelphia and then taken to the shelter. I happened to notice her pics while scrolling through Facebook, and the thought of her not making it out alive really hit me hard.

Her description spoke about her sweet disposition and quiet demeanor. But, what really tugged at my heartstrings was the fact they had said she was hard to look at due to the large masses on her body.

She smells of filth. Her white hair is stained gray. Her ribs, hips and facial bones protrude through her skin. And yes, she does have large tumors on her leg and back.

However, when I picked her up, the first thing I noticed was her kind eyes. I noticed the underside of her belly is as soft as velvet. And I noticed that every time I stop petting her, she nudges at my arm to keep going.

I see an absolutely gorgeous dog - a dog that was discarded like trash. A dog that has a resilient spirit. A dog that just wants to be loved.

They say that one man's trash is another man's treasure. I couldn't believe that any more than I do at this very moment.

Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life, Miss Frizzle
