My name is Thelma and I am an approximately 4 and a half year old, tiny little pit bull mix. I weight about 45 pounds and am working on losing about 5 of those right now.  I am on the search for a family with no cats, small dogs or children under 6 years of age.  I love to run and play with other dogs. I am very sweet and affectionate, I love to be close to people and I am very low maintenance once I settle in.  I have been living with a foster since I was rescued in October 2014, but would love a family of my own.

I was found wandering the streets of Philadelphia by a kind lady who took me in, as I needed medical attention.  My condition proved to be more than she could handle and I ended up in a kill shelter.  Janine saved me literally moments before I was scheduled to die.  Speranza got me veterinary care for all of my wounds; it appears that I was attached by a dog and had cuts, punctures and bruises all over.

Check out my report card! (Coming soon)

I am easy going in the home and in my yard, but I can be reactive when I am out and about on leash. I have had extensive obedience training and know sit/stay, down/stay, shake, and place.  I need work on heeling and coming when called with distractions though.  I would love to do regular obedience work with my new family, as I LOVE the stimulation, bonding and pleasure I get from it.  I take treats nicely and am crate trained.  I do well with other dogs and love to wrestle and play, but I do not do introductions with other dogs well on leash. I do just fine meeting them through a fence and then being off leash with them.  Once I know another dog I am fine on leash with them.
