The Farm Sanctuary •
Because Speranza Animal Rescue is a no-kill rescue, meaning that we never euthanize an animal due to lack of space, we have the luxury of being able to keep farm animals for the duration of their natural lives. We rely on a dedicated team of volunteers to help us safely provide these animals with a positive quality of life.
Our farm animals - pigs, goats, cows, alpacas, cats, the list goes on - well, let’s just say they’re all living the good life!
Pigs and Hogs
-

Cadbury
Cadbury was found as an itty bitty piggy alongside a road in Newville, PA.
-

Hatfield
Hatfield was found as a stray in Philadelphia, PA and was taken to a local shelter before finding his way to the Speranza farm. He is an older pig.
-

Porkchop
Porkchop was found wandering as a stray in the woods of Dillsburg, PA and was Janine’s first pig wrangling experience. The vet thinks Porkchop is an older pig.
-

Notorious P.I.G.
Notorious P.I.G. was running loose along Interstate 83 for a few days before we could catch him. Janine laid in the bushes and waited for him to run by before grabbing his foot and leashing him.
-

Kevin Bacon
Kevin Bacon was an owner surrender at 6 weeks of age.
-

Elvis Pigsley
Elvis Pigsley was seized in a neglect case and taken to a local shelter before being saved by Speranza.
-

Gumbo
Janine was contacted about a piglet with issues walking and was no longer wanted. After a few weeks at Speranza, he started walking normally and grew the biggest personality on the farm!
-

Twinkie
Twinkie was surrendered to Speranza due to having seizures. Fortunately, she is no longer having seizures! Twinkie loves her daily fruits and veggies.
-

Collette
This sweet girl and her sidekick, Cornelius, were running loose in 2021. After lots of attempts, Janine caught both of the runners!
Collette suffers from some neurological mishaps however she is typically a happy-go-lucky pig with some wobbly walks along the way! -

Cornelius
This feisty boy resides alongside his former running partner, Collette. He especially enjoys naps in the sun and snacks…always!
-

Dottie
Dottie came to us as an owner surrender when she was just a teeny tiny piglet.
-

Wally
In 2021, we received a report of a pig running along a local roadway as if he was on his way to Walmart hence his name. He was probably on a mission for snacks!
-

Piggy Sue
This girl is showing you her most favorite activity (zzz!). Upon landing at Speranza after wandering as a stray, this is how Piggy Sue passes most of her time.
-

Squeakers
Squeakers came to us as a little piglet weighing about 3 pounds. She was diagnosed with scabies and required daily medical care before learning farm life. Squeakers adores rooting in the mud and relaxing in the puddles!
-

Sir Oliver Wellington
Most pigs enjoy napping, and Sir Oliver Wellington is no different. He was surrendered by a family before spending his days at Speranza.
